Within the framework of the project implemented at Kastamonu University, 20 trainees from different universities were given training on “supply chain in disasters”.

Within the framework of the project implemented at Kastamonu University, 20 trainees from different universities were given training on “supply chain in disasters”.

The “Vital Dimension of the Supply Chain: Humanitarian Aid Logistics” project, supported at Kastamonu University within the framework of TÜBİTAK 2237-A Scientific Education Activities Support Program, has been completed. The project is led by Kastamonu University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences faculty member Assoc. Dr. Trainings were organized within the framework of the “Vital Dimension of the Supply Chain: Humanitarian Aid Logistics” project, conducted by Erol Tekin and supported by BİDEB 2237-A Scientific Education Activities Support Program.

In the trainings held at Kastamonu University between 15-18 April, lectures were given by 12 experts from Kastamonu University, Bartın University, Başkent University and Maltepe University, as well as AFAD and the Social Assistance Foundation. 20 trainees from different universities participated in the training for 3 days and received theoretical courses on topics related to humanitarian aid organizations, the importance of humanitarian aid, supply chain management, geographical information systems, digitalization in humanitarian aid, the importance of logistics in humanitarian aid and the role of logistics. Within the framework of the project, scientific research idea development and effective presentation courses were also included. For 1 day, applications were carried out to determine a research topic to develop approaches on supply chain and logistics activities in humanitarian aid. Trainees working in groups presented their research ideas to the jury members.

Thanks to the event, the awareness of participants from different universities was increased on supply chain management and logistics in humanitarian aid, especially disasters. While the importance of logistics in the delivery of humanitarian aid in Turkey’s natural disasters was emphasized, Maltepe University faculty member and LODER Logistics Association Vice President Prof. Dr. Mehmet Tanyaş also made an informative presentation to undergraduate students about the future of logistics and career opportunities in the logistics sector.

The training ended with trainee presentations and presentation of participation certificates to the trainees.

All trainees who attended the event thanked Kastamonu University for their hospitality.
