A dry cargo ship sank off the coast of Zonguldak in recent months.

The personnel on the Turkish-flagged ship “Kafkametler”, which sank after hitting the breakwater due to the storm, were lost.

While the dead bodies of the ship’s 5 personnel were found, efforts were made to find the ship’s missing captain Cemal Turan, 3rd Captain Berke Çamurtaş, Chief Engineer Veli Özel, 2nd Machinist Göksel Özel, Master Sailor Satulmuş Uslu, Sailor Mustafa Nacar and Yağcı Ömer Hebip. It continued throughout the day.

During the work carried out on the seabed by the debris removal company under the coordination of the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs, Kafkametler’s wheelhouse was lifted to the surface with the help of a crane and transported to land.

Other parts will also be removed

There is the text “Kafkametler” on the underside of the wheelhouse, which the divers cut and loaded onto the crane.

It was learned that the work will continue with the other cut parts of the ship being brought ashore.
