This 3,500-year-old mosaic floor, found in 2018 during excavations in Uşaklı Höyük, was unearthed in the courtyard of a temple dedicated to Teshub, the Hittite storm god.
Excavations at Uşaklı Höyük in Yozgat revealed ruins bearing traces of a Hittite temple dating back to the 15th century BC. The colored mosaic base is considered to have an important role in the origins of ancient mosaic art.

It is stated that this mosaic in Uşaklı Höyük was a discovery found opposite the Kerkenes Mountain. The mosaic, which consists of a total of 3147 irregularly shaped stones, covers an area of approximately 3 x 7 meters with the part unearthed so far. The stones are laid evenly and without completely touching each other, creating geometric patterns.
The discovery of these 3,500-year-old mosaic paving stones provides important clues about the daily lives of the Bronze Age Hittites. In addition, it provides important information about the art and culture of ancient times by shedding light on the origins of Mediterranean mosaics.
