According to the protocol, half of the restoration cost will be covered by the ministry and the other half by Çorum Municipality. The contractor company that won the restoration tender for Çorum Castle, one of the most important historical structures of the city, continues its work.

Mayor Dr. Halil İbrahim Aşgın stated that they took a very important step to protect the cultural assets of our city and reminded that the 1100-year-old Çorum Castle, which is a Seljuk heritage, is one of the most important historical monuments of our city.

Stating that the castle is an extremely important structure for the identity and future of Çorum, Mayor Aşgın said, “Currently, the joints on the body surfaces are being cleaned, and samples have been prepared to reach the original joint content and visual. An agreement was reached with the consultant on 1 sample. If there is no deficiency in stones in the places where the joints are cleaned, the joints will be manufactured. “Stone repair will be carried out in areas where there is deficiency,” he said.

Mayor Aşgın added that 50 percent of the restoration will be covered by Çorum Municipality and 50 percent by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
