20th Ankara Book Fair opened its doors

350 writers will meet their readers at the fair organized by Eylül Fuarcılık at ATO Congresium.

Fair coordinator Remzi Çayır, in his statement, stated that there were books for all segments of society at the fair and said, “Our aim is to deliver the book to large masses. To bring the author and the reader together in the same place.” said.

Noting that nearly 400 publishing houses were represented at the fair this year, Çayır noted that more than 1000 events such as signings, interviews, conferences and panels would be organized.

The book titled “Gaza Blockade from the Pens of Journalists”, which was prepared with the support of the Turkish News Cameramen Association and Medya-İş Union, and tells the memories of the reporters who followed the Israeli attacks that started on October 7 in Gaza, was also featured at the fair.

Speaking to the AA correspondent about the book, Turkish News Cameramen Association President Aytekin Polatel said that “Siege” is a book written by reporters, describing the inhumane cruelty that Israel has inflicted on the people of Gaza since October 7.

Stating that 68 journalists from Turkey, Azerbaijan and Palestine wrote their memories in the book, Polatel stated that they dedicated the book to their colleagues who were martyred while working in that region.

Stating that the Turkish media best described Israel’s oppression in Gaza, Polatel said, “They served there for days and months. It is a book that can also serve as a document for international courts.” he said.

Polatel stated that the book, for which they started preparations in December 2023, met with the readers at the book fair opened today.
