BITLIS (IHA) – 522 kilograms of waste batteries were collected in the “Traditional Inter-School Waste Battery Collection Competition” held in Bitlis city center and districts.

The “Traditional Inter-School Waste Battery Collection Competition” awards, organized by Bitlis Solid Waste Association (Bİ-KA) and Portable Battery Manufacturers and Importers Association (TAP) for 14 years, found their owners. The campaign, which aims to minimize environmental pollution caused by batteries and prevent serious dangers caused by batteries thrown haphazardly into nature, contributes to the environment and instills environmental awareness in children. With this competition, students and teachers make a great contribution to the environment by throwing the batteries they collect into the waste battery collection boxes regularly distributed to schools in the city center and district. The schools and students who are ranked in the competition, which has been held regularly every year for 14 years, are rewarded by Bitlis Solid Waste Association (Bİ-KA) and Portable Battery Manufacturers and Importers Association (TAP).

Stating that the students collected 522 kilos of waste batteries in one year, Bİ-KA Technical Personnel Yunus Gözeten said, “As Bitlis Solid Waste Association (Bİ-KA), we have been organizing a waste battery competition for about 14 years. We held the competition in 220 schools in the city center and district. As a result of the competition, our winning schools are We give various gifts. We also take the collected waste batteries from schools and send them to the recycling factory in Kocaeli. As Bitlis Solid Waste Association (Bİ-KA), we contribute to the production of oil by recycling the remaining metals around the waste batteries. “In addition to the awards sent by the Association (TAP), we also add awards ourselves and give plaques and gifts to our schools for their devoted work,” he said.
