Speaking at the ceremony, Provincial Director Kemal Yılmaz said; “Potato cultivation is very important, especially in our inner districts. By using distributed certified potato seeds in production areas, we aim to increase yield and quality and to expand the use of certified seeds. Because when our producers use seeds from their own potatoes, there may be a decrease in yield and quality from year to year, and this may also cause the spread of diseases. “These negativities can only be prevented by using certified seeds,” he said.
70 TONS OF CERTIFIED POTATO SEEDS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED
Mentioning that important studies have been carried out on potato cultivation in Ordu, Yılmaz said, “Today, we are distributing 18 tons of certified potato seeds in our Kabadüz District within the scope of the “Project for Expansion of the Use of Certified Potato Seeds” that we implemented in our province with the support of the General Directorate of Plant Production of our Ministry. Our distributions continue in our other districts. “Thus, we will distribute a total of 70 tons of certified potato seeds in 2024. With the projects we implement, we contribute to the utilization of idle agricultural lands in our province and support our producers. We will continue to implement new projects to increase potato cultivation in our province.”
A Türkiye THAT PRODUCES MORE
Kabadüz District Governor Mehmet İlgen, who attended the ceremony, said in his speech; “With the cooperation of the state and the producers, we will continue to move towards becoming a better Türkiye that produces more. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the realization of this project. “I wish our producers abundant and fruitful profits,” he said.
