Women members of women’s cooperatives started production in the greenhouse established by the District Governorate in İnebolu with the support of the Northern Anatolia Development Agency. The products produced in the greenhouse will enable women to earn economic income.
In the İnebolu district of Kastamonu, women who are members of the women’s cooperatives supported by the “Women Producing in Greenhouse” project carried out in cooperation with the İnebolu District Governorate and the North Anatolia Development Agency (KUZKA) planted crops in the greenhouse. Strawberry seedlings were planted in the greenhouses installed in the district by the İnebolu District Governorate. Subsequently, women members of women’s cooperatives planted tomato, bean, pepper and cucumber seedlings in the soil area. With the income obtained from the sale of the products grown, women will be able to earn economic income. At the same time, modern agricultural training will be given to farmers in the district to increase their production capacity. İnebolu District Governor Ahmet Vezir Baycar, Kastamonu Forest Regional Director Fahri Sönmezoğlu and District Agriculture and Forestry Director Hülya Karaaslan visited the women planting seedlings in the greenhouse. District Governor Baycar, who chatted with the women for a while during the visit, said that they aim to train every woman who wants to produce in İnebolu and bring them into production.

“The scarcity of land suitable for agriculture increases the demand for greenhouses.”
District Governor Baycar said that a greenhouse of approximately 2 acres was established in the first phase of the project and said, “İnebolu is the district with the highest greenhouse potential in Kastamonu. İnebolu has a greenhouse area of 115 thousand square meters, occupied by nearly 650 greenhouses. Kastamonu’s limited arable land increases the demand for greenhouses. Because we have a shortage of land for any kind of agriculture in terms of other grain crops. Therefore, there is a serious efficiency in the greenhouse. Our citizens traditionally have such a tendency and there is no marketing problem in the greenhouse. “It is very easy to sell both in the farmers’ market in İnebolu, in local markets, and in the İnebolu market in Istanbul,” he said.

“We cost this greenhouse 2 million 500 thousand liras”
Stating that they completed the greenhouse installation in İnebolu with the support of KUZKA, District Governor Baycar said, “We have come to the final stage of our İnebolu Greenhouse Project supported by the Northern Anatolia Development Agency. Today, we have completed the final stage of production in the land-based sector together with the women’s cooperatives we established in İnebolu. We planted peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and beans in the ground section. We carried out these plantings together with our members in the women’s cooperative. About 2 weeks ago, we planted our strawberries in the soilless section. Our strawberries are in bloom right now. Hopefully, we will reach the strawberry picking stage in two or three weeks. There are now two years of effort here. We built this greenhouse at a cost of 2 million 500 thousand liras. We established this greenhouse with the support of the Northern Anatolia Development Agency and our Governor from the Special Administration. With today’s budget, we have a facility that we will build for 67-70 million lira. Our aim here is to use modern facility methods. To provide guidance to the farmers of Inebolu about modern irrigation and fertilization methods, including soil analysis, and to turn it into an agricultural greenhouse area. We also provide training to our farmers. We will also provide practical training here. Our agricultural engineers from our Directorate of Agriculture have been providing theoretical training for about 2 months. “We will also start applied greenhouse training,” he said.

“We aim for women to gain economic value”
Stating that they started working to create a brand under the name of “Tarım İnebolu”, District Governor Baycar said, “We are also creating a brand called Tarım İnebolu. We also determine marketing strategies and aim to enable women to obtain more economic value. There will also be packaging machines in the containers here. In this way, we will ensure sales in both the İnebolu market and the village market in Istanbul. “I hope our greenhouse will be beneficial to our women’s cooperatives and our district,” she said.
