Ardahan Municipality started a spring cleaning campaign with the slogan “Let’s Make Ardahan Beautiful Together”. Mayor Faruk Demir, who collected garbage together with citizens, said, “Everyone has the right to live in a clean environment.”
Mayor Demir, who participated in the spring cleaning held in the National Sovereignty Park, put on his gloves, took a garbage bag and collected garbage in order to raise awareness with the participants of the event. Within the scope of the cleaning works, the National Sovereignty Park was cleaned thoroughly.
Mayor Faruk Demir, in his statement about the awareness event, said, “As of today, we are starting spring cleaning in our city. Apart from our professional workers, we, as managers, will carry out cleaning work in the parks in our city on suitable days. We put ashtrays in front of workplaces to throw cigarette butts, but our citizens still throw them on the ground. We expect the same action from our citizens who do not throw the same cigarettes on the ground when they go to Georgia. Our municipality’s biggest expense goes to cleaning. If we keep our city clean, we can use this money in different places. If there are too many employees in our units within the institution, we will use them for cleaning work. If necessary, 1 person will do the work of 3 people. We will focus on cleaning work together with everyone from the mayor to the bellboy. “We ask our citizens to keep our environment clean and throw our garbage into the trash bins,” he said.
