In the indictment prepared by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, it was stated that the suspect Lawyer Doğan Can Gündüz, who lived alone in his house on Mühürdar Street in Kadıköy Caferağa District, sent a message to Kadir Korhan Marmara on August 13, 2023, saying “Hafız, send me an escort number.” It was recorded that Marmara sent Fatma Duygu Özkan’s phone number to the suspect and sent a message saying “I bought it from Al Can”. Thereupon, the suspect exchanged messages with Fatma Duygu Özkan. These messages were also included in the indictment.
HE LAUGHED AFTER THROWING DOWN
It was reported that Fatma Duygu Özkan came to Doğan Can Gündüz’s house on August 14, 2023. M.Ç., whose statement was taken as having knowledge. While he was walking around with his friends around 20.30, he heard a man and a woman shouting on the 4th floor of a building. When he looked up, he saw that a black-haired woman was trying to be thrown off the balcony by a bald, naked male with a large tattoo on his back. She said that she screamed for help, the man grabbed the woman’s legs and threw her down, and after the woman fell hard to the ground, the suspect looked down and laughed and went inside and turned on music.
AGGRESSIVE LIFE PRISON REQUEST FOR LAWYER
In the indictment prepared by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect Doğan Can Gündüz contacted Fatma Duygu Özkan by sending a message and invited her to his home in Kadıköy. The suspect Doğan Can Gündüz grabbed Fatma Duygu Özkan’s legs from the balcony of the house on the 4th floor of the building. It was recorded that he threw it down. In the indictment, the suspect Doğan Can Gündüz was asked to be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of ‘intentional murder against a woman’.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Fatma Duygu Özkan (38) fell from the window of her apartment on the 4th floor of a 4-storey building in Kadıköy, around 20.30 on Monday, August 14, 2023. While Özkan died at the scene, Bursa Bar Association-registered Lawyer Doğan Can Gündüz (41), who was at home, claimed that Özkan threw him down. Gündüz was detained after eyewitnesses said that the woman was thrown out of the window by a man. Doğan Can Gündüz, whose police procedures were completed, was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
