ADANA, (DHA)- The first step of the fish breeding season was taken at the ADANA Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry Fisheries Production Station and milking of broodstock carp fish was carried out.

Breeder carp fish were milked to raise baby carp fish at the Adana Fisheries Production Station, which was transferred to the General Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry while it was under the use of the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSI). Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mehmet Nuri Kökçüoğlu also participated in the fish milking at the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry Fisheries Production Station located in the DSI In-Dam Facilities. Kökçüoğlu, who milked the eggs from the brood fish taken the day before and prepared for milking in the mini pools in the hatchery section of the Production Station, said that their goal in the new production season is to produce 10 million baby carp fish. Stating that the fry fish production, carried out with the support of the General Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, took place in different aquaculture production stations throughout Turkey, Kökçüoğlu said, “Last year, we obtained 10 million baby carp fish. We released them to the lakes and ponds in our province and also in the fisheries affiliated with us.” We distributed it to the surrounding provinces and ensured that it was released into the lakes and ponds in those provinces. This year, the new milking period started. We aim to produce 10 million baby carp fish and release them into our inland waters and ensure sustainability in our aquaculture industry, as the provincial directorate. “It does,” he said.

At the station, where there are 19 fry and parent fish ponds of different sizes, 9 of which are concrete and 10 of which are soil, as well as 32 concrete transport ponds, fish eggs are milked by technical personnel and then undergo the fertilization process. Larvae fish begin to emerge from fertilized eggs 72 hours later. Larvae fish, which are carefully cared for after hatching, are fed in mini ponds for a while, then taken to the earthen ponds within the station, where they are cared for until they reach a size of 5-6 centimeters, and are then sent to surrounding provinces to be released into lakes and ponds. Nearly 10 million carp fish produced at the Adana Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry Fisheries Production Station last year were sent to Adana, Konya, Kahramanmaraş, Mersin, Nevşehir, Kayseri, Osmaniye, Kırşehir, Hatay, Aksaray, Karaman and Niğde provinces and to the lakes and ponds there. was allowed to be released.
