CineNOVA Cinemas reached an agreement for four new IMAX theatres.
The number of IMAX theaters in our country, which is eight, will soon increase to twelve. CineNOVA cinemas signed an agreement with IMAX to host four new IMAX theaters with laser projection technology that provides 4K images.
These laser projection halls, which offer a much more intense experience in terms of both sound and image, will be a first in Turkey in this sense. This agreement also means breaking the IMAX monopoly in our country, and for the first time, a cinema company other than the Paribu Cineverse cinema chain owns IMAX theaters.
Hakan Askar, CEO of CineNOVA Cinemas, which has cinemas such as Marmara Forum and Forum Istanbul in Istanbul and Gordion in Ankara, says that they aim to offer the audience the quality that cinema deserves.
IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond states that they are pleased to present laser technology for the first time, together with CineNOVA Cinemas, to Turkey, which has a passionate cinema audience. Despite the limited number of IMAX theaters, Turkey stands out as one of the ten countries with the highest revenue in IMAX theaters in Europe.
The first two of CineNOVA’s new IMAX theaters will open in Istanbul and Ankara this year. It has not yet been announced in which cities the other two halls, which will start operating in 2025 and 2026, will be opened.
