Under the auspices of Adana Governorship, Turkish Red Crescent Adana Branch and Directorate of Communications Adana Regional Directorate took action regarding the decrease in blood donations in the city during the summer months.
A donation event will be held on April 30 in the city, where there is an approximately 20 percent decrease in blood stock due to citizens going to the sea and plateaus due to the summer heat.
In addition to the city protocol, important names from the art and sports community will participate in the event, which will be held to keep the blood stock at a normal level and to raise awareness.
Blood donations will be collected from citizens in the area to be established in Station Square.
“3 million 400 thousand units of blood are needed for 2024”
Turkish Red Crescent Deputy Chairman Ramazan Saygılı pointed out that blood is a national need.
Stating that they received blood donations at 300 points in Turkey, Saygılı said that they carried out blood operations in 1156 private and public hospitals.
Saygılı stated that Turkey’s blood need in 2023 is 2 million 800 thousand units and they are meeting this.
Stating that blood donations were at the desired level in the first 3 months of the year, Saygılı said:
“There is a need for approximately 3 million units of blood for 2024. We have to meet this. Retrospective 3-month figures show us that our work is going well. Adana is a city that meets its own needs in blood stock and supports the surrounding provinces. Adana has always been a part of Çukurova” “The valuable Red Crescent friends and donors of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Eastern Mediterranean are as conscious as possible. Therefore, Adana and the surrounding provinces are one of the leading self-sufficient cities in Turkey.”
“He should donate blood and establish close ties with people he doesn’t know.”
Saygılı said that they are waiting for everyone to join the blood donation campaign, which will be organized by the Presidency Directorate of Communications in the city on April 30, under the auspices of Adana Governorship, in which participants from the sports and arts community will also participate.
Saygılı emphasized that there is a decrease in blood stocks as we enter summer and during Ramadan and said:
“Before we enter the summer months, we will be receiving blood donations here in order to bring our national blood stock to a certain level and to be a salve for those in need. We ask for blood donations from our dear friends over the age of 18, from every precious brother who weighs over 50 kilograms, from our brothers every 3 months, from our female sisters every 4 months to come to the Red Crescent. We will be recommending them to donate blood. Our dear fellow countrymen, who have spared 15-20 minutes, should come to Istasyon Square and donate blood to everyone in Istasyon Square on April 30 to bring goodness to people they do not know and to become blood brothers. We invite our big family from Adana.”
