An important work for the city is also wanted to be included in the museum, where the names of the members of the Baku Muslim Charity Society will be kept alive.

Researcher and writer Alparslan Kotan called for the manuscript of the Quran, which was found from the wall of a mosque destroyed in Erzurum during the Ottoman-Russian War and brought back to Ottoman lands years later, to be recorded in the inventory book of the museum to be opened.

A century has passed since what happened in Erzurum during the Ottoman-Russian War and the occupation in 1916, but the people of this city have not forgotten what happened or the help given to them. During the occupation and its aftermath, the Russian attacks on the Northeastern Anatolia Region and especially Erzurum were not ignored by the Azerbaijani people. ‘Baku Muslim Charity Society’, which was founded in Baku in 1905 under the leadership of Hacı Zeynelabidin Tagiyev, sent Genceli Deputy Seyidov and his friends to Erzurum with thousands of sacks of aid materials after the occupation in 1916. Seyidov and his friends fought against the Russians for 2 years and tried to prevent the oppression of the Turks by the Armenian gangs.

It will open in May

After this aid, which is called the great loyalty of the years of pain and poverty, the events will not be forgotten and the debt of gratitude to Azerbaijan will be paid.In the name of charity, the ‘Sister Kömeği Museum’ will be opened in Erzurum in May. in ErzurumMany valuable works and documents will be exhibited in the museum, where the memory of names such as Hacı Zeynel Abidin Tagiyev, Genceli Seyidov, Salman Han, Abdulmabud and Rıza Ahmet will be kept alive. For the museum, where all preparations for the opening have been completed, documents collected from many parts of the world, especially Azerbaijan, will meet with Dadaşlar.

Speaking before the opening of the Kardeş Kömeği Museum, which will play an important role in Turkey-Azerbaijan relations, researcher and writer Alparslan Kotan said that he was in Erzurum years ago. He pointed out that the Holy Quran, which was found from the wall of a collapsed mosque and taken to Russia by a Russian colonel, should be recorded in the inventory book of the museum to be opened.

Kotan, who wrote about the fate of the sacred relic that was kidnapped from Erzurum in the 30th issue of Gelişim Erzurum Magazine, shared one by one the documents he found in the Ottoman Archives of the Presidency of State Archives. Kotan stated that the Holy Quran, which was taken from Erzurum in 1913 after the events during the Russian War, was put up for sale at auction by a Russian colonel and Musa Nakizade, one of Baku’s considerable riches, bought it for 1 million rubles.

“The sacred relic should be brought to Erzurum”

It was delivered to the Baku Consulate by Nakizade to be given as a gift to the Ottoman Sultan of the period, Sultan Mehmet Reşad. Stating that they do not know from which masjid or mosque in Erzurum the Holy Quran came out, Kotan said, “We know that that sacred relic was transferred to the Treasury in 1913 for safekeeping. Our call to the public of Erzurum; The Erzurum Quran, which was purchased by Ağa Musa Nakizade and sent to Istanbul in 1913, was recorded as the number one fixture in the inventory book of the “Brother’s Kömeği Museum”, which was decided to be established by the Metropolitan Municipality in 2024. He called on the civil and administrative authorities to immediately start the necessary initiatives within the Presidency, Ministries and relevant institutions to bring this sacred relic back to Erzurum.

By coming to the lands where the sacred relic unearthed from Erzurum years ago belongs, Stating that it is very important to exhibit it in the Brotherhood Museum, Kotan said, “On this occasion, Zeynel Abidin Tagiyev, the founding president of the Baku Muslim Hayriyesi, presented the Erzurum Quran to Moses, who bought it from the Russian colonel and sent it to Istanbul. “We can pay our debt of loyalty, even if only to a certain extent, to Nagiyev and all the members of the Hayriye Society who serve voluntarily in Erzurum and its surroundings,” he said.

A museum with a story

Referring to the expression ‘Brotherly’, from which the established museum took its name, Lokmacı said, “The Ottoman Empire was fighting the enemy on 7 fronts at that time. In many regions, associations, organizations and commissions with different names were formed to help the Ottomans. One of these is the “Brother Kömeği” (Sibling Aid) Commission. In Azerbaijan, during World War I and the War of Independence, aid was collected under the name of “Brother’s Help”. “Not only the rich, but even the beggars sent everything they had to Turkey,” he said.

Lokmacı, who does not forget the people who have supported him since the emergence of the museum idea, said, “This process was a long and arduous road.
