The painting exhibition of Painters Hasan Basri İnan and Onur Çetin was opened at MTSO Art Gallery. 21 works prepared by artists using oil painting techniques were presented to art lovers. The exhibition will remain open until May 9.

“I WANTED TO EXPLAIN THE POSSIBILITIES OF PLACES IN A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE”

Speaking at the opening, Painter Onur Çetin stated that they opened an exhibition for the first time together with Hasan Basri İnan. Stating that he describes the opportunities provided by places in his paintings in a storytelling manner, including social issues, Çetin said, “In the context of the subject, places mostly tell about the awareness of what we can do. I try to express this with my paintings. The factor point also refers to a social process. 19th century “Literature is now progressing in the social process in the same way as painting is progressing,” he said.

Stating that he has been involved in art since the fine arts high school, Painter Çetin said that he continues his works in his personal workshop. Pointing out that there is a mass of people interested in art in Mersin, Çetin emphasized that in order to increase this mass, there should be an increase in corporate galleries and support from public institutions. Addressing young artists, Çetin gave the following message: “Playing is very important and never give up” and said:

“They need to go all the way through their work without seeing it as a failure. “Do we have a small opportunity? Take advantage of it and continue within that process.”

NAN: “LIFETIME MSAFR”

Painter Hasan Basrinan also said that the theme of his paintings is a guest for a lifetime. Pointing out that paintings are also guests, İnan said, “I hope you bought a painting and sold it years later; it went to someone else’s house as a guest. Then he said to someone else, “In this world, there are actually more guests than people.”

Stating that he reflects the representation of photographic images in his paintings using oil paint, İnan stated that he is a graduate of the ceramics department and that he frequently uses motifs in his works because they reflect his culture.

THE TURNING POINT OF HIS LIFE WAS AHMET YEL

Speaking about his education life, İnan stated that he graduated from Mersin University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Ceramics with honors, but also improved himself in painting. Stating that he came to Mersin after completing his master’s degree at Hacettepe University in 2018 and turned his father’s welding workshop into an art workshop, İnan noted that he continued his work here. Stating that the turning point of her life was with Ahmet Yeil, İnan said, “He believed and trusted in what I did, in my talent, and most of all in me, and never spared his support. “I won my first prize in the competition with the canvas given by Ahmet Yeil,” she said.

Stating that although Mersin is a strong city in terms of art, this cannot be felt due to the lack of galleries, İnan pointed out that the city needs independent art galleries and emphasized that the continuity of these galleries is equally important.
