In his message, President Erdoğan said, “Dear representatives of our press and art world, esteemed guests, I greet you with my most heartfelt feelings and affection. I thank you for your kind invitation. In the words of Ms. Hande Fırat, Ankara Representative of Hürriyet Newspaper, one of the important names of our press, ‘women who lost their plane trees and turned into plane trees themselves’ I hope that the painting and sculpture exhibition in which she tells her story will be successful. I congratulate Ms. Hande Fırat, from whom we had the opportunity to learn about her artistic side as well as her identity as a successful journalist, and I wish her success in both her professional and artistic life, in your person, in the press and in art. “Once again, I wholeheartedly greet all members of our community and all art lovers who showed interest in the exhibition.”

“This exhibition is dedicated to my mother and my daughter”

Fırat thanked all the staff of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for the opening of the exhibition and his friends who supported him while opening the exhibition. Hande Fırat said, “This exhibition is dedicated to all girls, all boys, but especially girls who lost their fathers. This exhibition is dedicated to my mother and my daughter.”

Stating that the Around the World exhibition has a different meaning, Minister Ersoy said, “The richness of a society is measured by the depth of its culture and art. The more culture and art are established in the society, the more they are accepted in the society, the better culture and art can be produced in that society, the richer the society is actually.” “In this respect, as the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, we consider it our duty to support culture and art in all aspects. Not only art production but also easy access of our citizens to culture and art is very important,” he said.

Stating that they aim for citizens to have comfortable and easy access to culture and art with Culture Road Festivals, Ersoy said, “Citizens’ access to art is not sufficient. That is why we want to increase the production of culture and art. We want culture and art to become more than an activity that only a part of the society is interested in, and an activity that all segments of the society can access.” “What we find meaningful in this exhibition is the contributions of people who are well-known and well-established in the society and their share in the production of culture and art, which actually increases the popularity of art,” he said.

Stating that the meaning of the exhibition is important, Minister Ersoy said, ‘The meaning of your exhibition is also very important. I lost my father too, but I didn’t lose him at a young age like you. “I can understand, at least partially, how it feels for our young girls to lose their fathers before they turn 18, and how it puts a burden on their shoulders,” he said.

In the exhibition, 40 works consisting of paintings and sculptures made using various materials on canvas are exhibited. The exhibition will be open until May 25.
