An obesity patient weighing 210 kilograms had a successful surgery at Malatya Training and Research Hospital. The 26-year-old patient’s goal is to lose 10 kilos with this surgery.

General Surgery Specialist Prof. performed a surgical operation on Muhsin Akklınç, who weighs 210 kilograms, at Malatya Training and Research Hospital. Dr. Burhan Hakan Kanat stated that the operations that resulted dramatically years ago now produce much more positive results.

Prof., one of the doctors of Malatya Training and Research Hospital, performed a stomach reduction operation on 26-year-old Muhsin Akkılınç, who weighs 210 kilos. Dr. Burhan Hakan Kanat stated that obesity occurs with increased fat accumulation in the body. Stating that the fight against obesity is a situation that should be done not only by general surgery specialists but also with a multidisciplinary approach, Prof. Dr. Burhan Hakan Kanat said, “All patients must first be given diet treatment under the supervision of an endocrinology internal medicine specialist. After the diet treatment, there is also a pharmacological treatment period. Despite these, we recommend surgical operation for our patients who cannot lose weight or manage to lose weight. Years ago, there were complications arising from obesity surgery. That’s why.” Operations could be very dramatic and very controversial, resulting in death. However, over the years, with the increase in experience of surgeons and the advancement of medical technology, the rates of complications and related deaths have decreased, so patients can safely undergo surgery in experienced centers. “Unfortunately, 25 percent of men are classified as obese. Therefore, while the fight against obesity is very important for our country, our Ministry of Health is establishing more and more obesity centers every day,” he said.

“My goal is to lose 100 kilograms”

Muhsin Akklınç, who came to Malatya from Kahramanmaraş for obesity treatment, stated that he had a stomach reduction surgery. Stating that he had difficulties in his life due to his excess weight, Akkılınç said, “I had a hard time walking and my back hurt because of my excess weight. I could not do many of my daily tasks or attend important meetings. I had gone on a normal diet many times before. But it did not work. The risk of the surgical operation being unsuccessful as before is low.” “Prof. Dr. Burhan Hakan Kanat performed surgery on me when I was 210 kilos. The ideal weight for me is 100 to 110 kilos. I aim to lose 100 kilos.”
