The incident took place on April 12 in the coffeehouse located on Reşat Nuri Güntekin Street in Fevzi Çakmak District of Darıca district. Allegedly, Arda Yücel Ekşioğlu (19) and YT had an argument on social media. As the incident escalated, 17-year-old C.Ş. and YT came to the coffeehouse where Arda Yücel Ekşioğlu was, wearing ski masks and riding a stolen motorcycle. YT pulled out the gun and fired into the coffeehouse. While Arda Yücel Ekşioğlu, who was the target of the bullets, was seriously injured, the two suspects who carried out the incident escaped. Ekşioğlu, who was hospitalized with serious injuries, died on April 20.

After the murder, Kocaeli Police Department homicide bureau teams took action. The teams deepened the investigation and determined that 2 suspects had fled out of the city. After technical and physical follow-up, the murder suspect YT was found in Mersin and the motorcycle driver C.Ç. He was caught in Sakarya. R.Ç., İ.A., M.İ.A., E.Ö., İ.KT, who allegedly helped the two suspects escape and hide, were caught during the operation carried out in Istanbul, Sakarya, Mersin and Kocaeli.

8 suspects, whose statements were taken, were referred to Gebze Courthouse today after their statements. YT and C.Ş. were brought before the prosecutor. While he was arrested for “deliberate murder”, E.Ö. and İ.KT were released. Also İ.A., M.İ.G. and R.C. He was released on condition of judicial control for “concealing, altering or destroying criminal evidence”.
