Frightening transformer fire in Ankara

An allegedly old transformer exploded for an unknown reason in Çankaya. While the surrounding citizens were experiencing fearful moments, luckily no one was injured in the incident.

The incident took place in Demirlibahçe District of Ankara’s Çankaya district. An allegedly old transformer exploded for an unknown reason. A fire broke out after the explosion. Upon notice, fire brigade and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. The fire was taken under control after the fire crews extinguished it for an hour.

Menderes Keser, one of the eyewitness citizens, said in his speech, “There was a big explosion here in the morning. We were scared and when we came here thinking “Is the building collapsed here?”, there were flames. We are the victims right now, the electricity is out. We cannot sell goods. The stall is stopped right now. If it continues like this “We will close the shop in an hour anyway. There was a huge explosion here. Did the digger hit electricity or natural gas while working?” he said.
