An operation was carried out against a gang that illegally sold real estate to foreign nationals in order to obtain citizenship.

Ankara Police Department Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch teams carried out an operation against a group that illegally sold real estate to Afghan refugees to obtain citizenship, and 85 people were detained.

Within the scope of the investigation, a simultaneous operation was carried out at the specified addresses yesterday morning at 06:00. As a result of the operation 45 people were detained. The number of people detained as of today as a result of the operations carried out by the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Department (KOM) rose to 85.

Low value real estate is sold at a higher price

It was determined that the gang members sold low-value real estate at high prices and received fake reports from Capital Markets Board (CMB) licensed appraisers for these sales. Following the acquisition of citizenship, it was determined that the immovable properties were taken back after the legal period had passed.

It is claimed that the leader of the organization, SA, and many contractors in Ankara are involved.

It was determined that among those detained within the scope of the operation, in addition to S.A., the alleged leader of the gang, there were also many contractors operating in Ankara.
