Russian Language and Literature Symposium was held at Anadolu University

Anatolian University Faculty of Letters, Department of Russian Language and Literature and Rossotrudnichestvo Türkiye By the Representation of the Republic of Turkey, ‘Russian Language, Literature and Culture from Past to Present: (GULAG Facts by Varlam Shalamov) III. ‘International Scientific Student Symposium’ was held.

Anatolian University ‘Russian Language, Literature and Culture from Past to Present: (GULAG Facts by Varlam Shalamov) III, organized by the Department of Russian Language and Literature of the Faculty of Letters and Rossotrudnichestvo Representation of the Republic of Turkey. ‘International Scientific Student Symposium’ started at Anadolu University Atatürk Culture and Art Center (AKM) Opera and Ballet Hall. The symposium continued with the opening speeches after the students of Anadolu University Faculty of Letters Department of Russian Language and Literature presented their performances of Varlam Shalamov’s works.

“We watched with admiration the performances performed by our students”

Making the opening speech, Prof. Dr. Bedia Yelda Uçkan said, “Although the Department of Russian Language and Literature of the Faculty of Letters is actually a new department in terms of establishment, it has become very successful with its experience in a short time. The International Scientific Student Symposium, which has become a tradition, is a good example of this. We watched with admiration the shows performed by our students at the opening. All participants of the symposium “I hope it will be useful for you,” he said.

“This year we have 72 participants from 9 countries in our symposium”

Prof. Dr. In her speech, Makbule Sabziyeva said, “We started the International Scientific Student Symposium 6 years ago. This year, we have 72 participants from 9 countries in our symposium, which we organize to encourage our students. We are trying to offer every student from every semester the opportunity to make a presentation at least once. Varlam of the symposium “It is not a coincidence that it bears the name Shalamov. Varlam Shalamov’s works, beyond being a work of literature, tell us about the resistance, hope and power of human beings.”

Thanking Anadolu University for the symposium, Rossotrudnichestvo Federal Agency Representative of the Republic of Turkey, Assoc. Dr. Aleksandr Sotnichenko recorded the following words:

“I had previously attended the event of Anadolu University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Russian Language and Literature, and it was also very nice. I am very happy to be able to come together with Anadolu University in another enjoyable event. Varlam Shalamov is not a popular writer in Russia either. Varlam Shalamov is not a popular writer in Russia for this symposium. “Choosing Shalamov was an important choice because we need to know and know unpopular writers.”

After the opening speeches, the symposium continued with the presentations of guest speakers Varlam Shalamov Expert Sergey Solovyov and journalist, art critic and theater expert Olga Klyucharyova. It was stated that the symposium will continue for 2 days with simultaneous sessions at the Faculty of Letters and the Congress Center.

The symposium was attended by Anadolu University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Betül Demirci, Anadolu University Faculty of Letters Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Bedia Yelda Uçkan, Anadolu University Faculty of Letters, Russian Language and Literature Department Head Prof. Dr. Many faculty members and students, including Makbule Sabziyeva, attended. – ESKİŞEHİR
