WHAT IS SOILLESS FARMING?

Soilless agriculture is a modern agricultural method in which plants are grown by meeting their nutritional and water needs in a special growth medium instead of soil. In this method, the roots of plants are immersed in a solution rich in nutrients and water or sprayed with nutrient solution. Soilless agriculture is more advantageous than traditional agriculture in many ways.

Benefits of Soilless Agriculture:

– Saving on water: In soilless agriculture, water is delivered directly to the roots of plants. In this way, 70-80 percent water savings are achieved compared to traditional agriculture,

– Efficiency Increase: In soilless agriculture, the nutrient and water needs of plants can be precisely controlled. In this way, plants grow healthier and productivity increases,

– Disease and Pest Control: In soilless agriculture, the risk of soil-borne diseases and pests is low. In this way, less pesticide is used and the products become safer,

– Soil Pollution: In soilless agriculture, there is no risk of soil pollution because soil is not used.

– Cultivation Throughout the Year: Since soilless agriculture is done in a controlled environment, crops can be grown throughout the year.

– Cultivation in Small Spaces: Soilless farming can be done even in cities because it takes up little space.
