Mustafa Taşpınar, who served as a faculty member at Konya Selçuk University for many years and was the founding director of Çumra Vocational School, climbed the 3,150-altitude Yıldız Mountain in Mersin’s Toroslar district with a group of climbers as part of the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day events. . After completing the climb, the climbers started their return journey after the activity ended. Taşpınar disappeared in Tırtar District Cocak Creek location. Mustafa Taşpınar’s mountaineering friends reported the situation to the gendarmerie. Gendarmerie teams started an operation to find Taşpınar.
SEARCH EFFORTS HAVE STARTED AGAIN
Drones and gendarmerie tracking dogs were also used in the search operations, in which AFAD and AKUT Mersin personnel participated. No results were obtained in the searches carried out until late hours. The search efforts for Taşpınar were suspended due to adverse weather conditions and darkening weather. The teams resumed their search efforts in the morning.

It was stated that Retired Faculty Member Mustafa Taşpınar participated in climbing with mountaineering clubs operating in Konya for many years. Taşpınar had previously mentioned difficult terrain structures, including the 2,053-meter Loras Mountain in Konya’s Meram district, the 2,010-meter Ağlayan Çal Mountain, and the 2,481-meter Hacıbaba Mountain in Karaman, on October 29, Republic Day last year. It was recorded that he climbed the mountains where he was located.
