The grandchildren of the 83 martyrs who were murdered by Armenians and buried in a mass grave 105 years ago in Hakmehmet village of Iğdır still carry the pain of the massacre that took place nearly a century ago in their hearts. The grandchildren of the residents of Hakmehmet village, who was massacred by Armenian gangs in 1919 in Iğdır, on Turkey’s Armenia border, cannot forget the genocide that took place decades ago. Those living in Hakmehmet village, where the bodies of 83 people who were murdered by Armenian gangs and stuffed into mass graves were found during the last excavation in 1999, continue their lives with the pain of the massacre their family elders suffered that day. During the visit to Hakmehmet village by the Federation of Turkey-Azerbaijan Friendship Associations Iğdır Azerbaijan House Association, the martyrs were commemorated by reciting Fatihas for the martyrs of Hakmehmet village on the occasion of Martyrs’ Week. Citizens who visited the mausoleum, which was built by removing the bodies of 51 people (83 according to the villagers’ statements) from the mass grave discovered in the village as a result of the excavation in 1999, prayed by reciting Fatiha here.
