In the indictment, it was requested that Dilan, Engin and Sezgin Polat be sentenced to imprisonment of 2 years, 4 months to 8 years in total separately for the crimes of ‘Threatening with a gun with more than one person’ and ‘Damaging property’, and the other defendants were also asked to be punished at varying rates for various crimes.

The case involving 11 defendants regarding the incident started to be heard today at the Küçükçekmece 3rd Criminal Court of First Instance.

ATTENTION-CATCHING ‘PROFESSION’ ANSWER

Arrested defendants Sezgin, Engin and Dilan Polat were brought to the hearing from the prison where they were held. Other defendants attended the hearing via SEGBİS.

Nilda Polat, daughter of Dilan and Engin Polat, and Kübra Uzun, sister of Engin Polat, attended the hearing as spectators. Lawyers of the parties were present in the hall. During the identification, Engin Polat answered “Freelancer” when asked about his profession. When the court judge asked him what kind of self-employment he was, Polat said, ‘I have cosmetic companies.’ When asked about his monthly income, Engin Polat said that he had a monthly income of 200 thousand TL.

DILAN POLAT DROWN IN TEARS

Dilan Polat was brought to the courtroom after Engin Polat was identified. Dilan Polat, who attended the hearing, was seen wearing a black suit over a white T-shirt. As soon as Dilan Polat entered the hall and made eye contact with Engin Polat, she burst into tears. The moment they came together, the couple held hands. Dilan Polat kissed Engin Polat’s hand and a few minutes later, Dilan Polat was seated on the chair.

Dilan Polat wanted to touch her daughter Nilda and said, “Daughter, I love you very much.” The judge said that contact was prohibited. Dilan Polat said that her monthly income is 200 thousand liras.

“I LEARNED FROM THE PRESS THAT MY WORKPLACE WAS SHOT”

Dilan Polat stated that she wanted to defend herself and said, “I have known Banu Parlak, she has been my friend for 6 years. There were times when we were angry and made up. Before she opened a beauty center, we met regularly every day. She would come to my center and have the procedure done. 1 week before the workplace was shot. He asked me for help and support for his job. I told him I could help. Then I saw his posts in the news saying that there was no safety of life and that we were responsible for this. So far, I learned that the workplace was shot and I did not know the people we were prosecuting. “This Dalton gang even threatened me and my wife, and there are messages about these.” said.

“I WILL TAKE AWAY YOUR HONOR”

Dilan Polat continued her defense and said, “Can Dalton even sent threatening messages to my wife, saying ‘I will take away your honor’. I don’t know why we are in the same file with the people who threaten us. We have no connection with Georgia. I went there once for sightseeing while I was pregnant. Once at the opening of our Rize branch.” We went for a walk together with our employees and lawyers. I don’t know Halil İbrahim Kalkan, who was heard as a witness in the file. I only know this. I know that he threatened us by saying that he had a debt from my father-in-law. I am someone who is very prominent on social media. I think he wanted to extort money. He even went to our Pendik branch and said, “Take down the signs of this branch.” At that time, I was being slandered on social media. Everyone was attacking me. I was very confused. I do not accept the accusations. I want my acquittal. The video mentioned in the indictment had no direct addressee. “I shared it in general,” he said.

“WE WERE LIED AND SLANDERED”

Engin Polat, on the other hand, said, “I did not know Banu Parlak, I had no sincerity. I only know her as my wife’s friend. One day, she said on social media that ‘If anything happens to me, it is because of us.’ I said to my wife, ‘Isn’t this your friend, call her?'” Oda He said to me, ‘I will not meet.’ Later, I saw in Banu Parlak’s statement that my wife called him with good intentions. There were allegations about money laundering at that time. We will see the false witness Halil İbrahim Kalkan. He was calling the branches and saying that he wanted to meet with me and my father. He said, ‘Remove these signs, there will be no sign of Dilan Polat around here anymore.’ We did not take it seriously, but one day he went to our Pendik branch with his armed friends and threatened the employees. I said, ‘It won’t happen, let’s go and complain’. We went to Gayrettepe Public Order Branch and filed a complaint.” said.

Polat said, “As a result of our complaints, this person was punished. He made up a cover by saying that he was calling because we owed him money. Later, he added the Banu Parlak lie to this lie. We supposedly wanted Banu Parlak to be shot and we would pay 2 million liras in return. I have no connections in Georgia.” I have never called anyone from Georgia. We went on a family bungalow holiday 4.5 years ago, and it was a one-day trip. We went to a club in Georgia with 40-50 friends. I don’t know anyone from the Daltons. I learned from the newspaper that the leader of this gang was Can Dalton. Banu Parlak’s workplace was shot, then my shop was shot 3 times. That’s why I posted a video saying ‘They are dishonorable’ and he responded by saying ‘The next bullet is for you, you will see the dishonorable’. We were lied and slandered. Our commercial and personal personality was damaged. We have been detained in vain for 6 months. We were slandered because of this incident, we are the biggest victims, I demand my acquittal. “If the slightest evidence is found on me and my family, I am willing to accept any punishment,” he said.

In response to the question of the complainant’s lawyer, Engin Polat said, “I do not know anyone named Emirhan Döner, I have never met such a person. Fatih Gezer is my childhood friend. He called me from prison. He saw that our shop was shot in the media. He tried to help me with his own effort, saying I know this and that, but the name of the Daltons gang was not mentioned in the conversation.” .

“I SAW BANU PARLAK HERE; I HAVE NO CONNECTION”

Engin Polat’s father, Sezgin Polat, said, “In 2017, a man named Halil İbrahim Kalkan lent me 500 thousand liras. I have not seen this person. He has known me for 10 years. I do not know this person at all. He cannot borrow a penny from me. Then it comes down to business.” My son started looking for their place, ‘Dad, who is this?’ He was threatening me. He started calling all the way to Ankara. We saw that it was not going to happen, so we went to the police. After the incident, we learned that this person was taken into custody. Then the matter came to Banu Parlak. I have no connection with her. “This is a complete slander against us. I had nothing to do with the shooting at Banu Hanım’s workplace. The defendant said that I owed him money so I could pay it back and get away.” he said.
