The first seeds of primary planting peanuts met the soil in Osmaniye, one of Turkey’s leading centers in peanut production.

Peanut work has started for farmers in Osmaniye, which is famous in Turkey for its pistachios produced in its fertile lands. Peanuts, which were previously sprayed for planting in Kırmacılı village of the center, were brought into the soil by farmers. Farmers, who are worried about the possible drought and sales of peanuts in the summer, where most of the production and marketing are done in Osmaniye, are expecting support for peanuts.

Explaining the process of growing peanuts, farmer Mustafa Gül (52) said, “I have been dealing with farming and soil in these lands for as long as I can remember. In about 2001, water came to this region again with a water pump, and we have been making it wider since then. In peanut planting, the soil is first fertilized and prepared, Then the seeds are broken. The seeds must be disease-free, we spray the seeds. We made preparations before the rain, and started planting when the soil dried. Planting is done with an air drill, approximately 10 centimeters apart, depending on the condition of the seed. Of course, there are people who throw too much. It is important that the seeds are strong. I will plant 120 decares for the first and second crops. Of course, weather conditions and climate conditions affect this. There is no guarantee until he gives it and puts the money in his pocket. In other words, the problem starts with planting and continues until he puts it in his pocket. There is a quality in the peanuts that go into snacks. “Nowhere offers the taste of this region,” he said.
