Spraying Studies Against Ticks in Cattle Continue in Erzincan

Erzincan Teams from the Animal Health, Breeding and Aquaculture Branch Directorate of the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry continue their disinfection efforts against ticks on cattle in the barns.

Erzincan Provincial and District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry teams continue their work to spray cattle in provinces and districts within the framework of the fight against ticks that cause Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) disease. With the ongoing spraying efforts against the CCHF disease, which is transmitted from ticks to humans, the aim is to neutralize the ticks found on animals and prevent them from transmitting the disease to humans. CCHF disease is a zoonotic (transmitted from animals to humans) infectious disease caused by a virus carried by ticks, with symptoms such as fever, weakness, loss of appetite, muscle pain, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and, in severe cases, bleeding, which can cause death in the region. is of great importance. Almost all cattle throughout the province were sprayed against ticks that cause Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever, which has started to appear in Turkey since 2002 and has become an important public health problem. While the disinfestation applied by veterinarians, technicians and technicians working in Erzincan Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry satisfies the citizens, the disinfestation of the remaining animals is aimed to be completed before Eid al-Adha.

Veterinarian Yunus Koç, Animal Health, Breeding and Aquaculture Branch Manager of Erzincan Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, stated that the spraying work has come to an end and said, “With the arrival of spring months, our breeders started to take their animals to the pasture. Tick adhesion is observed in the animals that go to the pasture. To spray against these ticks, the Department of Agriculture and “As the Provincial Directorate of Forestry, we have carried out disinfection work on almost all of the cattle in our province. We plan to complete the remaining part before Eid al-Adha. In addition, we are informing our breeders about ticks and warning them to take personal precautions,” he said.

Ahmet Kılıç, who deals with animal breeding in Akyazı District, thanked the teams by saying that they use the medicines coming from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry every year.

Another cattle breeder, Şahin Kılıç, said, “As the summer season is approaching, we take our animals to the pastures. There are also a lot of ticks in the pastures. We are trying to take precautions against them, especially by using tick medicines brought by the teams of the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.
