In Mersin Erdemli, 21-month-old baby Mehmet Ali was diagnosed with his disease when he was 13 days old, and 60 million TL was collected within the scope of the campaign launched with the approval of the governorship. While the family’s hopes were raised with the money collected, it was stated that they would soon go abroad for treatment.
21-month-old baby Mehmet Ali, the second child of father Abdurrahman (29) and mother Sümeyye Gölgeli (26), living in Erdemli district, was diagnosed with SMA Type 1 when he was 13 days old. Following the diagnosis, a campaign approved by the Mersin Governorship was launched upon the application of the family. The campaign, which was carried out with the support of the people of the district and all institutions, especially Erdemli Municipality and District Governorate, collected 1 million 820 thousand dollars (60 million TL) for treatment expenses at the end of 19 months. The family, who received the good news, visited Erdemli Mayor Mustafa Kara with their children and gave the good news.
Stating that she was very happy about the completion of the campaign, Sümeyye Gölgeli said, “Our campaign started on September 29 and has reached 100 percent as of today. It was already a campaign approved by Mersin Governorship. Thank God, as of today, we have collected 1 million 820 thousand dollars with the support of both our municipality, district governorship and the people of Erdemli. If God permits, we say that Mehmet Ali will travel to Dubai in the future. We would like to thank everyone from here. “First of all, we would like to thank our municipality, our district governor, the virtuous people, the virtuous people, for supporting the virtuous people,” he said.

It was noted that after the visa procedures, the family will go to Dubai and begin the treatment of baby Mehmet Ali.
