In Adana’s Kozan district, the grandchildren of citizens who were persecuted by the Armenians at that time visited the atrocity oven and told about the cruelty and torment.

The ‘atrocity oven’, which was written about by Historian Yusuf Halaçoğlu in the past years in the historical bazaar in Kozan and opened to visitors as a symbol oven by Kozan Municipality, is visited by the families of the heroes of the War of Independence.

83-year-old Muzaffer Eroğlu, the grandson of Kerimce Mehmet, a martyr of Sarıkamış, stated that his father witnessed the Armenian oppression at a young age and said, “My father said that when he was a child, a man lying under a carob was hanged from a tree by Armenian and French soldiers on a hill where they went up to see the soldiers to see the foreigners. He would tell. They burned the people of Kozan in ovens. Those who lived at that time always say that they burned the Turks, whom they kept day and night, in these furnaces, and when we were children, we heard these cruelties and torments from our fathers. “French and Armenian soldiers committed many atrocities and tortures in the region,” he said.

Kemal Sehlikoğlu, the grandson of Sehlikzade Hasan Efendi, one of the heroes of the War of Independence, said, “The genocide they claim absolutely does not exist. For this reason, when we look at the historical past, while we, as a nation, were fighting in Çanakkale, the French tried to establish a state by revolting the fanatic Armenians living in these regions. Incidents of being burned in the oven are very common here. It is the region known in the region as the Kaçkaç period and where the first torch of the War of Independence was lit. The Turkish nation has never committed genocide. He did not oppress or torment during the Ottoman Period or the Republic Period. It is known that the Armenians who left here were taken to Adana to avoid any harm. “The Armenians who escaped from here state that they actually lived here as brothers against the Turks, and that the Turks were subjected to cruelty and atrocities as a result of the fanatic Armenians revolting,” he said.
