The trial of 9 undetained defendants regarding the murder of the person whose decapitated body was found in the forest area in Zonguldak’s Çaycuma district continued.

At the hearing at the 1st High Criminal Court, the brother of the victim, İbrahim Keleş, and Soner T, Serkan T., among the unarrested defendants against whom a lawsuit was filed regarding the discovery of the decapitated body of Mustafa Keleş (70), in the forested area of ​​Dursunlar village, Kadıoğlu District, Persembe town, on November 21, 2021. , Mevlüt T, Cihan T, Fatma K. and İlyas A. attended. Mustafa Keleş’s relatives and party lawyers were also present in the hall. Witnesses were heard at the hearing, where the defendants denied the accusations against them.

Witness KT stated in his statement that he did not have any information about the murder of the victim, and that he heard about the incident from his aunt and later told his family at home.

When asked whether there was any previous hostility between his father, Cihan T., who is an unarrested defendant, and the victim, KT noted that he had previously had an argument between his father and the victim about buying a house.

The lawyer of the relatives of the victim also stated that they recently learned that the daughter of the defendant İbrahim Keleş, D.K., hit N.A. from the same village on the head with a sledgehammer, and that the investigation into this incident is continuing, and that they tried to emphasize that the family carried out such actions insidiously.

Pointing out that the defendants İlyas A. and İbrahim Keleş and the victim went to the area where the murder was committed, and that there was concrete evidence that İbrahim Keleş committed the crime charged, the lawyer requested the arrest of the defendants.

The unarrested defendant, İlyas A., denied the accusations, stating that everyone brought their animals to the area where the incident took place to graze.

The court postponed the hearing to hear other witnesses and eliminate the deficiencies in the file.

Gendarmerie teams found the missing head of Mustafa Keleş (70), whose body was found on November 21, 2021, in the forested area in Kadıoğlu District of Dursunlar village of Persembe town, close to where the body was found as a result of the search.

Of the 11 suspects, including the victim’s brother İbrahim Keleş, who were previously detained within the scope of the investigation, 5 were released by the judgeship on May 30, 6 were released on judicial control condition on June 1, and a decision of non-prosecution was given for 2 suspects.

Upon information that the crime weapon was buried, on September 6, 2022, teams searched at certain points with underground thermal and magnetic imaging devices, and İbrahim Keleş, the brother of the detained victim, was arrested.

At the hearing on May 18, 2023, the court decided to release the detained İbrahim Keleş and lift the judicial control measure against the other 8 defendants, taking into account the lack of concrete evidence and his health condition.

In the indictment prepared by the Zonguldak Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and accepted by the 1st High Criminal Court, it is requested that 9 defendants be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of “qualified intentional murder”.
