The opinion on the merits of the case, which was heard again after the Supreme Court’s reversal decision, was announced in which 26 defendants, 10 of whom were detained, were tried for the attack carried out by the terrorist organization DAESH in front of Ankara Train Station on October 10, 2015, in which 101 people died.

While the detained defendants attended the hearing at Ankara 4th High Criminal Court via the Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS) from the prison they were in, the lawyers of the parties were present in the hall. Lawyers demanded that the prosecution be expanded and that the documents about public officials who were negligent before the terrorist attack be evaluated by the court.

Explaining his opinion on the merits after the statements, the prosecutor requested that the defendant Erman Ekici be punished with aggravated life imprisonment for a total of 102 times, once for “violating the constitutional order” and 101 times for the crime of “deliberately killing 101 people”. The prosecutor demanded that Ekici be sentenced to up to 6 thousand 822 years in prison for the crime of deliberately attempting to kill 379 people, and the other defendants Abdülmubtalip Demir, Talha Güneş, Metin Akaltın, Yakub Şahin, Hakan Şahin, Halil İbrahim Alçay, Resul Demir, Hacı Ali Durmaz and Hüseyin. He also requested aggravated life imprisonment for Tunç for “deliberate murder”.

Defendant Ekici took the floor and requested time to prepare his defense. The court board ruled that the detained defendants should continue in their current situation and postponed the hearing to 26 June.
