Vice President Ahmet Özköse, who announced that Yeni Malatyaspor’s President Adil Gevrek had been dismissed from his position in the management last week, made a written statement and told the club president Gevrek that if he insisted on ‘one-man’ management, the team would be relegated once again and he should resign. He said that he said so and that’s why he was referred to the disciplinary board.
Özköse’s statement is as follows:
“I would like to start my statements by wishing a speedy recovery to Malatya, which suffered great damage in the earthquake.
My first encounter with football started in 1986, when I was 11 years old, playing football in Malatya İdmanyurdu football club, Sümer stadium.
So, my encounter with Malatya Spora is a 38-year adventure and also a childhood love…
However, after 38 years, I joined Yeni Malatyaspor club as a manager.
My purpose in joining was to support the football team of my city, which was destroyed by the earthquake.
However, in Adil Gevrek, I could not understand why the board of directors was not informed about the decisions taken during this 9-month period, there was no transparent mindset, consultations were closed, and even though I repeatedly said that our goalkeeper, who lost his life in the earthquake, would receive nearly 400,000 from previous years, it was still not paid.
And by taking the initiative, I decided to hold bilateral meetings. I held the meetings for the benefit of Yeni Malatyaspor and the salvation of Malatyaspor.
As a result of my meetings with Malatya’s politicians, Malatya’s popular, respected and respected business people, Malatya’s notables, Malatyaspor’s big fans, and non-governmental organizations, I realized that the society did not support and trust Adil Gevrek, and we decided to hold a meeting in Istanbul to convey this situation to Gevrek. . I tried to explain Adil Gevrek at the meeting, I told him that he should leave the team, resign, and the club should pave the way for him.
In response, he insisted that he would not leave the team and that he would continue to be a one-man. I left the meeting, saying that if it continued like this, this team would be relegated once again.
During this process, while I was considering resigning from the board of directors, I learned that I was being disciplined. I have abandoned my decision to resign for now, pending the outcome of my disciplinary process.
“I would like to express my respect and greetings to my fellow citizens from Malatya that I will continue to have more detailed bilateral meetings with the institutions and people I mentioned above in order to save our new Malatyaspor.”
