Turkish military ship arrived in Mogadishu

--

Somali President Hasan Şeyh Mahmud, Somali ministers and Turkey’s Mogadishu Ambassador Alper Aktaş attended the welcoming ceremony of the ship belonging to the Turkish Ministry of Defense.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Mahmud said, “The government of our brothers in Turkey is a country and people we know who have supported us many times. It is a friendly and brotherly country on which we can rely on this important agreement and cooperation for the protection of our country and territorial unity.” made his assessment.

Thanking President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Mahmud stated that thanks to this agreement, the Somali navy will become stronger again and reach the capacity to protect its own seas on its own.

Somali Defense Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, in his statement to AA correspondent, said, “The agreement itself contained different parts, one part was economic, the other part was military. Most of the work is going well and this ship is part of the military part and other parts are planned to be implemented.” he said.

Stating that the agreement signed between Turkey and Somalia is an indication of the strong ties between the two brother countries, Ambassador Aktaş stated that Turkey will continue its support with determination within the scope of protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia.

Aktaş said, “Somalia’s security is also Turkey’s security. We have never considered Somalia’s stability separately from our own country’s stability.” said.
