During President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s visit to Iraq, an action plan in the field of agriculture and forestry was signed between the two countries. Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı and Iraqi Minister of Agriculture Dr. With the 2024-2025 Action Plan of the Agriculture Working Group signed between Abbas Jabr El Ali El, it is aimed to start egg sales from Turkey to Iraq, which has not been done for a while, to diversify chicken meat exports, to increase seed trade and to reduce the procedure involved.
EXPERIENCE WILL BE SHARED

Exporting breeding cattle semen, vaccines and veterinary medicine from Turkey to Iraq and developing Iraq’s animal husbandry are also included in this plan. With the Action Plan, cooperation will also be made on the development of drought-resistant plants, agricultural mechanization and closed irrigation system.

Türkiye-Iraq Agriculture Working Group was held in Baghdad on April 4. An action plan scheduling comprehensive technical cooperation for the 2024-2025 period was created. The plan was signed by the ministers of the two countries during President Erdoğan’s visit. With global warming and rapid population growth in Iraq, the water issue has become an important security problem for Iraq. Within the scope of the Action Plan, cooperation and experience sharing will be carried out on the development of drought-resistant plant species and varieties. Farmers will be trained on breeding cattle semen trading and artificial insemination. Cooperation in the development of seed trade is also included in the plan. Training farmers on forestry and growing forest plant saplings to combat desertification is also on the agenda.
With the Action Plan, cooperation will be made in research activities on vegetable and ornamental plants, tissue culture, vegetable seed growing, fruit and viticulture, which are among the study subjects of horticultural plants. Effective use of market capacity will be ensured in poultry meat, table eggs and beekeeping products.
