Recep BAGHDAD/MALATYA(DHA)- April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day was celebrated in Malatya, which was devastated by the 6 FEBRUARY earthquakes.
While 23 APRIL National Sovereignty and Children’s Day was celebrated with various events all over the country, it was celebrated for the first time in Malatya, an earthquake region, following the February 6 Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes, with an event held in the gym with an enthusiastic crowd. Before the event held at Beydağı Indoor Sports Hall, Malatya Governor Ersin Yazıcı handed over his seat to Teachers Secondary School student Erva Çetin as his representative. Erva Çetin, a 5th grade student who is sitting in the governor’s seat, stated that they went through a difficult period with the earthquakes and said, “I would like to thank our teachers and administrators who worked selflessly in every part of the city during the February 6 earthquakes.” said.
The enthusiasm for April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day continued with events held at Malatya Beydağı Indoor Sports Hall. Malatya Governor Ersin Yazıcı, Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Sami ER, representatives of non-governmental organizations, institution directors, military personnel, as well as citizens and children attended the program. April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day was celebrated with enthusiasm with folk dances, gymnastics, dance and choir activities held in the hall.
