Many historians attended the general assembly held in the conference hall of the historical building of Erzurum City Archives, located next to the historical Erzurum Castle of Erzurum Technical University (ETÜ).
The general assembly, chaired by Metropolitan Municipality Culture Department Head Ergün Engin, started with a moment of silence and the reading of the national anthem. Making the opening speech, the president of the association, Prof. Dr. H.Ömer Özden gave information about the past activities of the association. After the management of the association, as well as the account balance sheet and audit reports were released, elections were held. Prof. received the votes of all members attending the meeting. Dr. Ömer Özden was elected as the President of Erzurum History Association. While İsmail Bingöl, Mahir İnanç, İsmail Arslan and Zübeyir Saltuklu were elected as Board Members, Naim Ürkmez, Muammer Çelik, Uğur Akbulut, Nurtaç Canpolat and Abdurrahman Zeynal were also elected as substitute members of the Board of Directors. While Nizam Işık, Sinan Gügen, Metin Sarıgül were elected as the Members of the Audit Board, the substitute members of the substitute board were: Erdal Güzel, Erdoğan Serdar Çalık and Müslüm Çağlar. In fact, the founding purpose of our association is; To introduce the history of Erzurum, to provide information about our current city and to turn it into a book.
