MERSİN, (DHA) – In the MEDITERRANEAN Municipality, the presidential chair was transferred to Devrim Geriş and Tuna Akdoğan on the occasion of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day. The children’s first instruction was to build a library in their neighborhood and increase the number of recycling bins.

Devrim Geriş and Tuna Akdoğan, who came to the municipality hand in hand with Akdeniz Mayor Hoşyar Sarıyıldız for the representative handover ceremony, were welcomed by the staff. Then, the children took the office and gave their first instructions to the relevant units.

While Tuna Akdoğan stated that there was no library in his neighborhood and wanted a library to be built, Devrim Geriş thanked Mustafa Kemal Atatürk for gifting April 23 as a holiday to children. Geriş said, “I also want recycling bins to be placed in more places in our city and our streets to be much cleaner.”

Stating that they were very happy to host the children, Akdeniz Municipality Mayor Hoşyar Sarıyıldız said, “Today is April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day. By entrusting our seats to our children, who are our future, we have shown what our children can actually do when opportunities are created. They show us what a bright future they have and their stance.” “As Akdeniz Municipality, we will work to create a municipality where children live safely, have green spaces and their future is built together,” he said.
