The historical Development Road Project, for which the first signatures were made between Iraq, Qatar and the UAE under the leadership of Turkey, will change the balances in world trade. The investment size of the project, which will open the trillion-dollar Gulf capital to Europe and shorten trade with the Far East by 20 days in total, will extend from Iraq’s Favorite Port to Turkey and then to trade centers such as Amsterdam and London, is 16 billion dollars. For the Development Road that will enter Turkey from the Ovaköy Border Gate, 615 km of railway and 320 km of road will be built. On the Iraqi side, 1200 km of railway and road roads will be built.

DEVELOPMENT PATH 25 DAYS

Durations will be shortened on the Development Road, which will be the New Silk Road. The Development Path will start from China and reach the Persian Gulf via Singapore, Sri Lanka, India, the Indian Ocean. The Development Road, which will enter Iraq from Fav Port, will pass through the capital Baghdad and Mosul and reach Ovaköy. It will pass through Şırnak, Mardin, Şanlıurfa and Gaziantep. It will be connected to the Mediterranean from Iskenderun and Mersin Ports. It will open to Europe by passing through Adana, Karaman, Konya, Afyonkarahisar, Eskişehir, Gebze, Istanbul and Edirne. With the railway to be built on the 3rd bridge in Istanbul, the duration of the project will be further shortened. It will pass through Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Slovakia, Czechia, Germany and Belgium and reach London. This period will last a total of 6 thousand 604 miles and 25 days.

THE PLACE IT PASSES WILL CHANGE

According to Yeni Şafak news, A 1200 km highway with 2×3 lanes will be built in Iraq, one of the most important legs of the Development Path. The highway, which will start from Fav Port, will reach Ovaköy Border Gate via Najaf, Karbala, the capital Baghdad, Beyci and Mosul. The train line, which will also be 1200 km long, will start from Fav Port and reach Ovaköy via Nasiriye, Kadisiye, Hille, the capital Baghdad, Samarra, Tikrit, Mosul and Rabia.

ŞIRNAK WILL BE CONNECTED TO ISTANBUL BY HIGHWAY

In Turkey, highway integration will be provided to the existing Niğde Highway and Ankara-Istanbul highways. Şırnak will be connected to Mardin, Şanlıurfa and Gaziantep with a 320 km highway to be built on Ovaköy. The highway will connect to Mersin-Adana-İskenderun highways and connect to Mersin and İskenderun ports. From there, it will connect to Niğde, Ankara and Istanbul highways and open to Europe. New lines will also be opened with the new railway of 615 km. The railway, which will start from Ovaköy, will again connect to Şırnak, Mardin, Şanlıurfa and Gaziantep. The railway will be connected to Iskenderun and Mersin port. The train will open to Europe as a second line via Adana, Konya, Afyonkarahisar, Eskişehir, Gebze, Istanbul and Edirne to reach Istanbul.

SHORTER THAN ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

The Southern Corridor, which starts from China, extends to London via Singapore, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, the Indian Ocean, the Suez Canal, the Mediterranean Strait of Gibraltar and the Atlantic Ocean. The 11 thousand 11 mile length of this corridor takes 35 days and 7 hours. The Beijing-London-Cape of Good Hope Corridor starts from China, opens to the Indian Ocean via Indonesia, and reaches London via the Cape of Good Hope, off the coast of Africa, and over the Atlantic Ocean. While the mile length of this corridor is 14 thousand 327, its total duration is 45 days and 22 hours.
