ORDU (AA) – A ceremony was held in Ünye and Fatsa districts of Ordu on the occasion of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.

The first ceremony in Ünye district was held in front of the Atatürk Monument in Cumhuriyet Square.

In the program, District Director of National Education Özgür Tokgöz laid a wreath at the monument, and after a moment of silence, the National Anthem was sung.

During the celebrations that continued at Ünye City Stadium, protocol members greeted the students and the public.

Stating that April 23, which is a turning point for the Turkish nation, was gifted to children whom Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk saw as the guarantee of the future, Tokgöz said, “Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s gift of this blessed day to children means that we will entrust our future and give the guarantee of our future to our children.” It shows value, faith and trust.” said.

In the program where various shows were presented and poems were read, a team of Georgian children invited from Georgia by Ünye Acara Georgian Friendship Culture Association staged a Caucasian folk dance show.

District Governor Ayhan Işık, Mayor Hüseyin Tavlı, Georgia’s Consul General in Trabzon Nikoloz İashvili, other relevant persons and students attended the ceremony where awards were given to the students who ranked highest in the competitions.

The ceremony in Fatsa district was held at the district stadium.

District Director of National Education Saygın Atinkaya said that April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm.

The students performed various shows at the ceremony, which started with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem.

District Governor Avni Kula and Mayor İbrahim Etem Kibar also attended the ceremony.
