Bayburt Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams were informed that unauthorized excavations and historical artifact research were carried out in the protected areas in the center and Demirözü district within the scope of efforts to protect cultural and natural assets and prevent smuggling.
Upon identification of people excavating in the region, an operation was carried out at 4 addresses, and 16 rings, 2 earrings, 2 necklaces, bracelets, brooches, 4 cross figures, figurines with human figures, figurines with figures, 10 arrowheads and 53 metal ornaments, believed to belong to the Roman and Byzantine periods, were found. A total of 91 historical artifacts, including objects, were found.
4 suspects were detained during the operation.
