Children have the promise, the guarantee of the future
BURSA – At the workshop titled “The future is talking about the century” organized by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality on the occasion of World Children’s Rights Day, children, the managers of the future, took the floor for a better world. Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş, who always wants children to think big, said, “We have to talk, discuss, think and put these into practice.”
A workshop titled “The future is talking about the century” was organized by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Social Services Department Family, Women and Children’s Services Branch Directorate in cooperation with the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services on the occasion of 20 November World Children’s Rights Day. Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş, Bursa Governor Mahmut Demirtaş, Provincial Director of National Education Dr. Ahmet Alireisoğlu, Provincial Director of Family and Social Services Faruk Uysal, Bursa City Council President Şevket Orhan and around 150 students attended.
“Always think big”
Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş said that he always trusts the children who are the future of the country and attaches importance to their ideas, and stated that they need generations that offer ideas and think in order to achieve greater things. Stating that the workshop is an opportunity for young people, Mayor Aktaş said, “Always think big. We live in a very beautiful country. We have an ancient history. There is much work for you to do. We have to be strong as a country. Unfortunately, we live in a world where the might is right. We have to produce.” “We have to take action, we have to be equipped with high technology. That’s why we have to talk, discuss, think and put these into practice. You are the ones who will do this. We are trying to reveal your self-confidence by preparing suitable environments for you. I wish the meeting to be beneficial,” he said.
Bursa Governor Mahmut Demirtaş celebrated the World Children’s Rights Day of all children. Stating that children, who are the managers of the future, will protect their rights, Governor Demirtaş said, “In the program, the Universal Declaration of Children’s Rights and its reflections on today will be explained. On World Children’s Rights Day, new windows will be opened on children’s rights in Bursa and in our country. I believe that we will reach out to the United Nations.” “There will be ideas and opinions that will provide direction and guidance. I wish good luck to all participants,” he said.
Provincial Director of National Education Dr. Ahmet Alireisoğlu stated that the young ideas that will emerge at the meeting are important. Stating that they trust young people, Alireisoğlu stated that the world needs children’s clean ideas and thoughts.
Provincial Director of Family and Social Services Faruk Uysal reminded that according to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, every state is obliged to work to improve the living conditions of children. Explaining that the meeting was held to discuss the articles of the contract and determine new application examples, Uysal wished the meeting to be beneficial, which will shape the future.
Bursa Provincial Children’s Rights Committee Chairman Sıla Gündoğdu said that they gathered for the children who are the hope of the future. Stating that they want to make progress on behalf of children by trying to put every idea and comment spoken into action, Gündoğdu said, “We will do this not only for our own city, but for the future of Turkey. Our goal is to reach children who cannot defend their rights, to contribute to activities carried out with children, to support children’s “Each child we reach takes us one step further. I would like to thank everyone who supports us. I wish a free life to the children who are the hopes of the future. We are stronger together,” he said.
After the speeches, the workshop continued with table topics and poster preparation.
