Mersin Provincial Police Department Environment, Nature and Animal Protection Bureau continues its work uninterruptedly.

A field survey was carried out in the area as a result of the detection of artificial sounds resembling constant quail calls during the patrol carried out by the teams in the rural areas of the intersection of Bozön, Emirler and Kocavilayet Neighborhoods, based on the efforts to contribute to the protection of hunting and wildlife and illegal hunting activities. During their investigation, the teams found a quail-sounding bird trap mechanism at the base of a stunted tree marked with an onion net in a bushy area. Realizing that it was a Guide Quail, an endangered and important bird species, which was caught in a net trap and had a net rope wrapped around its foot, the teams rescued the bird from the trap and intervened with the first aid materials the team had. The bird in question was later released into its habitat.

The trap materials obtained were delivered to the Nature Conservation and National Parks Branch Directorate for destruction.
