The fire in Afşin-Elbistan B Thermal Power Plant, which was affected by the earthquakes on February 6 in Kahramanmaraş and started production after the maintenance and repair works carried out on May 10, was extinguished.
A fire broke out during the maintenance and repair of the Flue Gas Treatment System (FGD) of Afşin-Elbistan B Thermal Power Plant, which consists of 4 units, each with an installed power of 360 megawatts, that has been producing electricity for nearly 20 years.
A large number of firefighters and 3 firefighting helicopters were directed to the region.
After about 5 hours of work, the fire is extinguished, while the cooling work of the teams continues.
Afşin Mayor Mehmet Fatih Güven told Anadolu Agency (AA) that they arrived at the scene quickly and that the cooling efforts of Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality firefighters are continuing.
