According to the ministry’s statement, a vehicle that came to Turkey from Iran was evaluated as a suspect during the controls carried out by the Esendere Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate and was referred to a detailed search.
During the physical search, in which the narcotic detector dogs also participated, it was determined that some of the watermelons in the sacks had an unusual weight and appearance. In the examination, it was determined that 4 watermelons were emptied, drugs were put in, and mixed with normal watermelons by turning them into a whole.
A total of 12 kilograms of morphine was seized in 12 packages, first wrapped in cloth bags and then in cling film.
While the judicial process regarding the operation was started, one person was arrested and sent to prison.
