In the city of Maastricht, in the south of the Netherlands, a 5-year-old Turkish boy who said he was an earthquake victim was found alone.

In the news reported by BBC Turkish, it was stated that the child did not know a word of Dutch, and that he was investigating how the unknown child came to the country.

In the statement made on the Instagram account of the Maastricht police with the caption “Alone in the big city”, it was stated that a 5-year-old Turkish boy was found wandering alone in the city center.

The Turkish-speaking boy, who did not speak any Dutch, was taken to the police station by the police in a candy store.

The boy, who was served food and ice cream at the police station, chatted with a Turkish-speaking policeman.

MOTHER AND FATHER WERE INJURED IN THE EARTHQUAKE

Explaining that he came from Turkey, the boy said that his parents were in their country and both were injured in the earthquake on 6 February.

It was reported that the child, who was handed over to social workers, was sent to a shelter.

There was no information on how the 5-year-old boy arrived in the Netherlands. It was stated that the Dutch authorities are investigating this issue.
