According to the statement made by the Turkish Deaf Sports Federation (TİESF), the International Sports Committee for the Deaf (ICSD) decided to organize the Olympics in Turkey. The organization will be held on 18-28 February 2024 in Ankara and Çankırı (Ilgaz).
In the Deaflimpik, deaf athletes will compete in alpine skiing, cross country skiing, ice hockey, curling, futsal, snowboarding and chess.
TIESF President Kerim Vural, whose views were included in the statement, stated that Turkey came out of the Hearing Impaired Summer Olympics held in Samsun in 2017 with a clear mind in terms of medals and organization, and used the following statements:
“Turkey held one of the best Olympic games ever in the world of the hearing impaired. Our goal is to achieve the same success in the 20th Winter Olympics for the Deaf. We have been laying the stones of this road, which resulted in our country being the host, for the last year. Both our ministry and the ICSD As a result of the one-on-one meetings I had with the Deaflympics, we brought our country to the Olympics for the hearing impaired for the second time.Of course, our organizational success in the Deaflympic Summer Olympics held in 2017 is the reason why we brought these Olympics to our country, and that it was the smoothest and most successful of the hearing impaired Olympics so far.
