Those who did not fulfill their donation promise in the ‘Turkey One Heart’ aid campaign are now burned

Earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.7 and 7.6 that occurred in Kahramanmaraş on February 6 caused great destruction in 11 provinces. While tens of thousands of people lost their lives in the disaster of the century, hundreds of thousands of people were left homeless.

MORE THAN 115 BILLION TL COLLECTED

After the disaster, the “Turkey One Heart” campaign was organized with the joint broadcast of TV channels in order to heal the wounds. The amount of donations collected in the program, which lasted about 8 hours, exceeded 115 billion TL. During the joint broadcast, donations of 115 billion 146 million 528 thousand TL were collected and 9 million 10 thousand SMS were sent.

MORE THAN 41 BILLION DONATIONS STILL NOT MADE

Making statements at AFAD Headquarters, Vice President Fuat Oktay spoke about the money collected. Oktay said, “Out of the 115 billion 146 million 528 thousand TL committed in the Turkey One Heart campaign, 74 billion 118 million 164 thousand TL has been deposited into the accounts. Every penny of the collected aid will be spent for the restoration of the earthquake zone. I believe it will be transferred to accounts in days.” said.

LIST OF DONORS WILL BE PUBLISHED

After this statement, it became a matter of curiosity why the donations were not made as promised. According to the information obtained, AFAD contacted people who promised and did not help. AFAD officials said, “Donation-aid is optional, there is no obligation. An ethical and moral situation arises for those who make a promise and then do not fulfill this promise.”

On the other hand, it was learned that AFAD will publish the list of institutions and organizations that make payments in the future, so that those who do not make a promise will be revealed.
