ARTVİN (AA) – The trial of the accused, who was arrested on the grounds that he strangled his wife in Ardanuç district of Artvin, continued.
The defendant Ferhat Karaboğa, the witnesses and the lawyers of the parties attended the hearing at the Artvin High Criminal Court. At the hearing, lawyers representing the Artvin Bar Association Women’s Rights Commission, which is a direct party to the case, were also present.
At the hearing, SY and MY, who knew the deceased Sinem Karaboğa and the accused Ferhat Karaboğa from the neighborhood where they lived, were heard as witnesses.
The accused Karaboğa claimed that he had argued with his wife frequently and that they could not get along, and that he killed his wife by strangling them while they were arguing, and two days later, he put it in a suitcase and took it to the forest area with Ü.A.Ö’s car and buried it alone.
The court board, which also listened to the lawyers, decided to continue the detention of Ferhat Karaboğa, and the hearing of the two new witnesses mentioned in the statements, the Ü.A.Ö. and postponed the hearing to February 7, 2023 in order to examine the records of the GSM lines used by the defendant at the time of the incident.
Ferhat Karaboğa, who was arrested by the İzmir Selçuk Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on 27 December 2021 on the grounds that he killed his wife, confessed that he killed his wife in Ardanuç district of Artvin and buried him in an empty field.
Thereupon, the security forces came to the said land in Ardanuç with the accused, and excavated at the point he had indicated, where the body of a woman buried wrapped in a blanket was found. In the DHA test, it was determined that the body belonged to Sinem Karaboğa.
