Hakkari – Nizamettin Atılgan, who works as a teacher in Yeşiltaş village, 45 kilometers from the district, took the squirrels he found outside a year ago to his home. Enterprise, who created a place for squirrels with special materials in his house, started to feed them. The squirrels, who are comfortable in the house, both walk and play with their family members.

Atılgan explained that when they first brought the squirrel into their house, they only made him drink milk, and now that the squirrels eat all the food prepared at home. Noting that squirrels are a source of joy, Nizamettin Atılgan said, “Squirrels are now a part of this house. I actually have a love for animals since childhood. It was just a coincidence that I found these squirrels. They were just babies and their eyes were closed. We fed them with milk just like a child in the first months. We looked at it as much as we could, even if not as much as we could. Now he has gotten used to the home environment like a human. Normally, their food is certain, but now they eat and drink everything we eat and drink. They also love oranges. As far as I know, squirrels eat walnuts, but this eats everything. That’s a gratifying thing,” he said.

Emphasizing that the squirrels they feed at home now recognize themselves, Atılgan said, “They are used to us too. They play with us, but they recognize strangers coming from outside immediately and sometimes become aggressive towards them. Because they just want us to be. They don’t wake up before we get up and they don’t sleep before we sleep. “They come to the window and wait for us to come home. When I come home, they jump on me and play with me.
