“I have been waiting for this moment for 78 years”
Director Wim Wenders visited for the festival for the first time at the meeting. Stating that he was happy to be in Istanbul, he said, “I have been waiting for this moment for 78 years. “Istanbul is a very beautiful city, I am very happy to finally be here,” he said.
Actor Koji Yakusho He said that, unlike Wenders, who has never crossed paths with Istanbul, he accepted the invitation to the Istanbul Film Festival as soon as he received it. Yakusho added that he had always wanted to come to Istanbul since he heard the song “Flying to Istanbul / Tonde Istanbul” by Japanese musician Mayo Shouno in his youth, and that he was very happy to finally be here.
Wenders and Yakusho answered questions from members of the press at the meeting. Wenders won the Best Actor Award for Yakusho at Cannes. Perfect Days Koji Yanai, the producer of the film, Takuma Takasaki, one of the co-producers of the film, who wrote the script of the film together with Wim Wenders, and Chisato Minami, one of the co-producers, also attended the meeting.
